Propose using a gene drive to spread a dominant female lethal at a neutral locus (presumably this means on an autosome).
Characterise P. xylostella Masculinizer gene and propose a Propose a ‘RIDL with drive system’ based on expressing recoded Masculinizer in females to create a dominant female lethal effect.
Expression of recoded Masculinzer would be resistant to normal silencing in females and is predicted to cause female specific lethality and/or female to male sex conversion.
